Turn any email into a Google Account

You must have a Google account to access Analytics, Adwords etc.

In order to use services offered by Google such as Analytics and AdWords and Google Business, one has to have a Google account.

It is easiest to access Google services using a Gmail account. All Gmail and all G-Suite accounts are Google accounts. If you own an Android phone, then you likely already have a Google account.

If you are accessing Google services to use with your business, it is highly advisable to create a dedicated Gmail account for this purpose. Do not allow an employee to use their personal Gmail for these things.

If you still prefer to use your existing email address rather than a Gmail, follow the steps below.

1. Open this page: https://accounts.google.com/signup
2. Fill out the form, but where it asks for a username, click the link below the field, labelled "Use my current email address instead"
3. Continue through the process.

Note that Google will occasionally badger you upon sign-in to convert the account into a Gmail account. Be sure to skip/decline the offer or you might get into a real mess.
